The Singapore Pools organisation is the only legal lottery operator in the country. It offers three main types of lotteries: 4D, TOTO and Big Sweep.
A typical 4D game involves choosing a 4-digit number in the range of 0000 to 9999. The player will win money whenever their number is in the top prize tiers, or when it matches any of the winning numbers. There are a few different ways to play 4D, including an ordinary entry and a system entry.
System entry: This method offers players a higher chance of winning but it is also more expensive than an ordinary entry. A system entry costs 24 dollars for a set of 24 combinations created from the 4-digit numbers.
Toto: A popular game with seven prize tiers in total, Toto is available at all Singapore Pools outlets. Toto is played like other 6/49 format games with the exception that a sixth number is chosen to determine the jackpot numbers.
Ang Siew Wah: A 60-year-old Singapore woman was jailed for nine weeks after she violated Covid-19 laws by leaving her home to eat, get vaccinated and collect her lottery winnings while under a quarantine order last year.
Singapore Pools’ lottery revenues have been on the rise in recent years despite the COVID-19 scare. The CRA increased the casino entry fee by 50% as it was negotiating new deals with Las Vegas Sands and Genting Singapore in 2019. But it isn’t all good news for the lottery, which faces a surge in illegal wagers and betting operations.
